Lightroom 4 & Nik Software Filters - a big NO???

Lightroom 4 & Nik’s Filters a big NO???

I just received my Lightroom 4 upgrade and what a surprise - after the installation all my Nik Software plugins dind't work.
I check on Nik's website and downloaded the latest versions, which is stated to support Lightroom 4, but the result was the same. The only filter that is working correctly is HDR Efex Pro. For all the rest under "Edit In" menu I get this message:

Unexpected error performing command:
bad argument #1 to 'lower' (string expected, got nil)

The plugins DO work with the Lightroom 4 beta, but not with the original version 4.
I sent an e-mail to Nik's support - still waiting for answer. I'll keep you posted of how the problem is developing.
I believe this is a situation that all of the current Lightroom and Nik's users will experience these days after they upgrade to LR4.

Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4

Adobe Lightroom 4

Adobe just released the 4th version of their Lightroom which now supports Nikon D4, D800, D800E and has added many lenses support as well, like for the new Nikon 85mm 4/1.8G, Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8, Tokina 100mm f/2.8 Macro, etc. You can order it in three different versions:
Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4
Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4 Upgrade from Photoshop Lightroom 3
Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4 Student and Teacher Edition
See the Lightroom 4 detailed specifications below:

The Photoshop Lightroom 4 Software For Mac And Windows (For Sale On Web) from Adobe is a complete photo management and editing suite for Mac OS X and Windows. Ideal for enthusiasts and professionals alike, Lightroom takes a nondestructive approach to photo editing, leaving the original files unmolested. All your adjustments and edits are stored in a database and applied to an image on the fly, so that you'll always be able to go back to the original image. This enables you to execute as many post-processing adjustments on a photo as you'd like, without making permanent changes to the original image.

Canon 5D Mark III announced

Canon EOS 5D Mark III

March 2, 2012
London, UK
Canon announced their new "enthusiast" level full frame camera - Canon EOS 5D Mark III.
It is the replacement of the previous model 5DMark II and although there are no many new features, Canon have listened to their customers and "fixed" the major things they were criticized for - autofocus, weather sealing, shooting frame rate, etc.
I won't describe the characteristics of this camera in details as you can see those at so many places online.
Here is a link to the official Canon page of 5D Mark III.
I am going to write a comparison between the 5D Mark III and it's main rival - Nikon D800. So check out my next article.
Meanwhile you can pre-order the Canon 5D Mark III here:

Nikon D700 price down $500

Nikon d700

As March hit the calendar, Nikon's D700 prices started to drop down, as it was rumored before.
First, they went down in Europe and it was followed in some USA stores now.
The camera stores started to lower down the prices with fear. The bravest of all was Cameta Camera, with their drop of $200 and Amazon with their D700 price of $2519.93.
One by one the big stores started to lower the prices as well. As I was writing this, the prices have changed several times, but now most of the stores has officially sell it for $2199. You can get yours from AMAZON, where I buy my equipment, or choose one of the hundreds other stores available today.

Thursday, February 9, 2012

On February 7, 2012, Nikon announced their new camera D800, which has the remarkable 36.4MPx Full frame (FX) sensor.

Nikon D800

I will start with "I really wanted to hate this camera" cliche and I will describe the reasons for that below. At the moment of the announcement I actually "forgot" everything bad and I really think that Nikon did a great job with this camera. I'm looking forward to have one of those "miracles" in my hands as soon as they are available on the market. I already pre-order mine. Meanwhile you should hurry up and if you still didn't pre-order yours - DO IT RIGHT NOW!!! Soon there will be a huge demand for this camera and if you don't want to wait endlessly to see it in stock - better pre-order it now. You can do that at Amazon - for D800 here and D800E here.
